Hi, I’m Laura.  While my day job combines meaningful work for a small foundation with part-time consulting, my passion is for travel experiences that connect me to the deeper aspects of urban life. I’m not the only one looking for these things. The growth of sharing economy websites (like AirBnB and others) that connect people more directly to neighbourhood-based accommodations is one of several ways travelers search for authenticity.  I decided to start LULLUE, to chronicle some of my travel ramblings for this reason -as a place for reflecting on  authentic travel, with a few moments of urban planning geekiness thrown in for good measure.

My focus so far is on North American and European cities, because that’s where my experience is strongest.  I have written academic pieces on my city-planning experience. Most of it has been process-focused, on how people come to agreement (or don’t) on critical changes to the urban and social environment.  I will draw on this experience where it might enrich perspectives on travel, but authentic travel remains the focus.  So, here goes…
